5 Biggest Missed Opportunities From WWE Stomping Grounds 2019

2. Giving Seth Rollins A Worthy Opponent

Way ahead of Shane McMahon in terms of audience fatigue, you'll find Baron Corbin - a one-dimensional mouthpiece that wrestles a ton of matches that all just happen to look the exact same.

While it was far from ideal, even the most cynical of fans could see the sense in booking him to take on Universal Champion Seth Rollins for the house-show-that-nobody-wants-to-admit-is-a-house-show Super ShowDown, but what was the point in putting us all (and Seth) through it again at Stomping Grounds?

Rollins' Universal Championship reign had been prophesied for years. That's right: we all knew that one day, all of 'The Architect's hard work would pay off and that he would take his rightful place atop the red brand as its champion - and that day came at WrestleMania. Unfortunately, lazy booking hindered everything that came after that, preventing his title reign from being anything other than a disappointment - and one of the main reasons for that has been this unbelievably dull program with Corbin.

There is an endless supply of talent that could gel incredibly well with Rollins in the ring - and many of them already have - so, the mind boggles as to why the creative team felt it necessary to extend this rivalry long past its expiry date.

Remember how this was WWE's chance to build up Stomping Grounds as a worthy new offering? Well, a great Seth Rollins match would have accomplished that, but unfortunately, he couldn't do that with Corbin as an opponent.
