5 Biggest Missed Opportunities From WWE Stomping Grounds 2019

1. Letting The Universal Championship Match Main-Event

Aren't we all glad that Seth Rollins vs. Baron Corbin main-evented the show?

Look, it makes sense that the-powers-that-be finally wanted to give the Universal Champion his long overdue main event slot on the card but, damn, letting this one close the show was a major misfire. Rollins vs. Corbin was a dud at Super ShowDown, but at least it was an opening dud that got lost in a show full of them. This, however, this was the freakin' main event... and it was awful.

Therein lies the problem with current WWE booking because, other than the WWE Championship match (which was also highly disappointing), there wasn't anything else on the card that had enough stakes to have been a logical show-closer and, given how high-quality some of the earlier contests were, that's a darn shame.

Seriously though, in terms of match quality, this slow, plodding affair ended up being the worst of the night. That's not a great look for what is arguably the company's most important belt and, quite frankly, the fans deserved better.

You would think that an opening string of decent matches was a good thing, but all it did was highlight how poor the main event actually was.

WWE should have been well aware of the lack of in-ring chemistry between Rollins and Corbin and planned accordingly, either producing something else that would have been a logical replacement or just giving Seth a better opponent, but it appears that we can all add this to the list of things that this company is oblivious to.
