5 Biggest Missed Opportunities From WWE The Horror Show At Extreme Rules

4. MVP's Forfeit 'Win'

Apollo Crews' absence over the past couple of weeks has caused a lot of online speculation given everything happening in the world right now, but unfortunately, WWE was completely ineffective in providing any clarity to situation.

The kayfabe version of events is that Crews showed up at the event but that he ultimately failed his physical and wasn't allowed to compete because he was still 'injured' from the attack he suffered at the hands of Bobby Lashley weeks ago. As a result, his scheduled opponent, MVP, showed up in the ring with Lashley by his side and just, well, declared himself the new United States Champion?

One of the many unclear things about this Horror Show of a PPV, it's now unknown as to whether or not Montel Vontavious Porter is actually the champion or if Crews still holds the gold. Based off the segment's closing commentary, it would seem that it's the latter but, in all honesty, WWE wasn't very clear about it... like, at all.

Furthermore, couldn't they have come up with a more effective way of writing Crews off TV (at least temporarily)? After all, if he was 'in the building', wouldn't he have just made his presence felt during MVP's speech and contested his decision to award himself the title?
