5 Biggest Winners & Losers From AEW In 2024
4. Winner: Mercedes Moné
Yours truly is not a fan, at all, of what Mercedes Moné has been doing in AEW. From my point of view, she's had overrated matches, her character is a worse version of what Sasha Banks was in WWE, her promos have been flat and her "CEO" theme is the worst in the company.
But if I separate myself from the situation and take my personal opinions out of the mix, then even I have to admit that she's been successful in many of the ways that she likely would tout as her goals.
Mercedes came into All Elite Wrestling with a ton of fanfare as the biggest signing they could possibly get. She's been treated like a mega star ever since.
Somehow, she has been positioned as so big, in fact, that holding the midcard TBS Championship has taken priority over the AEW Women's World Championship. If you didn't see which belt she or Mariah May were holding, you'd assume Moné was the top woman on the roster.
By all accounts, Moné is making a ton of money, holding multiple titles, is enjoying herself, and is being praised to the heavens as the most viable asset. You can't look at that and see that as a failure.
