5 Biggest Winners & Losers From WWE Clash Of Champions 2016

5. Winners: The Cruiserweights

Raw's Cruiserweights didn't have the brightest of starts last week. While the four-way match between Rich Swann, Gran Metalik, Brian Kendrick, and Cedric Alexander was fine, Mick Foley flubbed his lines in the introductory promo, and TJ Perkins, the champion, didn't even appear.

It wasn't a terrible introduction, but it made no impact on the crowd, and Perkins' omission was completely unforgivable. Still, it allowed Kendrick to emerge as number one contender, and last night's Cruiserweight Title match delivered.

There were a few sloppy spots, but Kendrick and Perkins produced an exciting one-on-one clash highlighted by TJP's sleek adaptability, and Kendrick's hard-nosed veteran tendencies. More importantly, though, Clash of Champions gave its two featured Cruisers some personality, and a story for the fans to sink their teeth into.

TJP was allowed interview time prior to the match, and after fighting dirty throughout the match, Kendrick's post-match headbutt establishes him as the dirtiest player in the division. Letting the Cruiserweights go out and put-on good matches is fine, but WWE need to frame the action with coherent stories and personalities if the division is to succeed, and that's exactly what happened last night.
