4. Loser: Sin Cara

There appears to be very little logic or reason in WWE’s decision to split the Lucha Dragons at this point. Kalisto and Sin Cara weren’t setting the tag scene alight, but Kalisto’s done little more than let himself get bullied by Baron Corbin since the Draft, and Sin Cara’s lifeless singles career is being driven into the ground on Raw.

A few weeks ago, Braun Strowman’s “local talent” destruction tour continued when he flattened Americo, then tore-off the luchador’s mask after securing the 1, 2, 3. Cara saw this as an affront to the lucha culture, and made the daft decision to stand-up to Strowman, who promptly destroyed the masked man to pick up a routine count-out victory.

This week saw the duo tangle once again, with Strowman again emerging victorious. Sin Cara put-up a fight, but the match was too short for either man to gain much from it, and the former Lucha Dragon is being served-up as no more than fuel for Strowman’s push at this point.

What can WWE do with Sin Cara? The gimmick’s crowd interest is at an all-time low, and while they could feasibly throw him in with the Cruiserweights, he’s nowhere near as exciting a performer as any of the division’s current inhabitants. The future looks bleak for Cara, who would’ve been much better served by sticking with Kalisto.
