5 Biggest Winners & Losers From WWE Raw (Sept 26)
5. Loser: Bayley
Yes, Bayley won her Clash of Champions rebound match last night, but it wasn’t pretty. She allowed her “local talent” opponent Anna Fields entirely too much offence, and there were points in the short bout where Fields looked very competitive against the former NXT Women’s Champion. Bayley secured the win, of course, but she gains almost nothing from it, and only looks weaker from going 50-50 with an enhancement talent.
Bayley got on the microphone afterwards and talked about being pinned by Charlotte at Clash. She promised that fans hadn’t seen the last of her, and that her quest for gold was far from over, but it was hard to take her seriously after such a poorly-booked match. Enhancement matches should be just that: an opportunity to enhance the victor. Instead of popping the crowd, running through her spots, and bouncing back from the PPV, Bayley took a sidestep.
It’s tough to tell where she goes from here. Bayley is a natural underdog who suits a longer built to becoming champion, but Charlotte and Sasha Banks have now separated themselves from their fellow NXT Horsewoman. Away from the title scene, Bayley’s current feud options are Nia Jax and Alicia Fox, and that says it all.
