James Ellsworth’s Cinderella Man story continued on SmackDown. Tasked with opening the show, Ellsworth took to the ring not only to apologise to Dean Ambrose, but to say “goodbye” to the WWE Universe.

Ellsworth revealed that last week’s blunder had left him grief-stricken, and he hadn’t been able to sleep since costing Ambrose his shot at the WWE Championship. While Dean was accepting of him at first, Ellsworth almost annoyed him into ripping his head off before AJ Styles turned-up to stir the pot and instigate a brawl.

Dean was granted another shot at redemption, and he promptly threw Ellsworth out of the building to prevent a repeat of last week. Somehow, Ellsworth found his way to ringside, caused the distraction, and though James was dragged out by security, both he and Ambrose left wearing big smiles.

Chalk up another win for WWE’s ultimate underdog. Who knows how much longer his story will continue, but Ellsworth has been absolutely perfect in his role. This is almost exactly what WWE were trying to do with Colin Delaney a few years ago, only on a far grander scale. It sounds like a ridiculous statement, but few men are making bigger waves in WWE than Big Game James at the moment.
