5 Biggest WWE Winners & Losers In 2021
7. Loser: Elias
No one’s ever really watched Elias for his work between the ropes, but for a while, his persona, catchphrase, and musical act was properly over. Fans looked forward to his derogatory, cheap heat-gaining songs, he performed with real charisma, and even had a little recurring feud with John Cena going on.
Now, though, he’s nowhere to be seen. He was involved for a while with Shane McMahon during Shane’s interminable feud with Braun Strowman, enjoying a brief run out in one of ‘Mania 37’s absolute lowlights.
After getting creamed by the monster among men a few times, he teamed with Jackson Ryker and got battered by Omos instead. The two split up their team to little reaction; Elias then put on basically the same match with Ryker for several weeks on the trot, before vanishing.
We were treated to some vignettes in which Elias burned his guitar, “killing” the drifter character, but he’s yet to emerge in his new persona. Rumours abound that a rebirth in a new colourful guise was kiboshed at the death, with McMahon feeling it was too similar in look to Randy Savage. What Elias will do next remains to be seen; hopefully he’ll be able to put his gifts to good use soon enough.
