5 Biggest WWE Winners & Losers In 2021
8. Winner: Bobby Lashley
For many years, Bobby Lashley seemed like a whole lot of potential unrealised. Obviously he’s got the physique, as well as the strength and credentials, but in his first WWE run there was something missing - not charisma, necessarily, but pizzaz.
When he came back to WWE, early signs were equally worrying - he was thrust into bizarre comedy spots with Sami Zayn and floundering in the midcard. Since allying with MVP, though, the sky’s the limit for the almighty. In March of this year he won his first WWE Championship. We thought he’d be fed to Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania - instead, he triumphed in the excellent opening match, and to no small ovation.
His ring work has come on leaps and bounds, his intensity a sight to behold, his conditioning as impressive as ever. Unlike other career midcarders making the jump to the top, Lashley with the big gold didn’t feel incongruous - it felt totally natural.
He has since dropped the title, but seems to be hovering around the title scene all the same. So long as he’s given the right opponents (i.e not Goldberg), he should be a big deal for the rest of his career, and deservedly so.
