5 Current WWE Angles That Are Going NOWHERE

1. The WWE World Cup

King Of The Ring replacement that'll become an annual staple or one-off tourney that'll be forgotten about as soon as it's finished?

That's the question hanging over WWE's first World Cup brackets before Crown Jewel. Some of the match possibilities are rather tasty; Kurt Angle vs. Seth Rollins, Rey Mysterio vs. Dolph Ziggler, Jeff Hardy vs. John Cena and any other number of matches we could see are exciting. That won't matter if it's treated the same way as the so-called 'Greatest' Royal Rumble was.

After winning that, Braun Strowman was handed both a trophy and a title belt. The latter was never seen again, and the giant cup was ringside for a week or so before being stuffed in a warehouse somewhere. Meanwhile on commentary, Michael Cole and his cohorts rarely (if ever) mention that Braun won the 50-man GRR.

It's likely this World Cup will suffer the same fate. Whomever wins it will be given a shiny trophy, brag about it on Raw or SmackDown for a spell then move on. There's no point in denying it. This isn't the important occasion WWE's hype machine would lead you to believe pre-pay-per-view, and it won't mean much by the end of November.
