5 Huge Dolph Ziggler WWE Moments That Never Went Anywhere
3. Dolph Ziggler Wins The World Heavyweight Championship From Alberto Del Rio - Raw April 8, 2013
Despite his position on the card at WrestleMania XXIX, Ziggler was still Mr. Money in the Bank - and the next night on Raw, he cashed in his briefcase, got an impromptu match with hurt babyface World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio, and pinned him for the title. The crowd in New Jersey's Izod Center was elated, and Dolph had picked up the biggest win of his career. Sure, the World Heavyweight Championship had effectively been relegated to a firm secondary title, but he had arrived. Unfortunately for Dolph, his momentum was cut short - and this time, it wasn't even WWE's fault. A few weeks into his reign, Ziggler suffered a concussion after Jack Swagger kicked him in the head. The reigning World Heavyweight Champion was put on the shelf, and while he should have been enjoying the run of his career, all he could offer were a few taped promos. Dolph returned to action a month later and immediately lost the World Heavyweight Championship back to Alberto Del Rio.
