1. Dolph Ziggler Is The Sole Survivor Against Team Authority - Survivor Series 2014
By the time WWE began hyping the main event of Survivor Series 2014 - a five on five elimination battle between Team Cena and Team Authority with careers on the line - Dolph Ziggler seemed to have settled comfortably into his role as a midcard player. He won a pair of Intercontinental Titles and continued to excel in the ring, making him a natural choice for Team Cena. The match turned out to be an excellent, dramatic affair, with Team Cena taking an early lead, but Team Authority evening the score. Cena, The Big Show, and Dolph were the last three men left on Team Cena, but when Big Show turned on Cena, punched him out, and left, that caused two eliminations - and meant that Dolph was the last man left for his team. He would have to contend with Kane, Luke Harper, and Seth Rollins all alone. Ziggler pinned Kane with a Zig Zag, then implausibly brought things to one one one when he pinned Harper with a roll-up. The Authority interfered on Rollins's behalf, but the debuting Sting attacked Triple H and helped Ziggler pick up the win. In the end, Dolph saved the day, vanquished the Authority, and scored what the announcers treated as one of the greatest victories in company history. Surely he was now a star - he would win the Royal Rumble, challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE Title, and become a legend. Well, no. Six weeks later, the Authority was back in power and Ziggler was Intercontinental Champion again. We should have seen it coming.
