5 Keys To Success For CM Punk In The UFC

2. Jump Right Into Striking

The biggest criticism of Brock Lesnar, perhaps, was his inability to take a punch. Scratch that - Lesnar could take a punch, as evidence by Shane Carwin beating him up pretty badly in the first round of their fight, which Lesnar would come back to win. No, a more accurate statement would be that Brock Lesnar didn't like getting hit. Who does, right? Lesnar, however, had excellent wrestling to fall back on. If he could take an opponent down, there was a good chance he was winning. He was big, strong, and mean. A decorated collegiate wrestler. So he could try to avoid the striking game as much as possible, though he shouldn't have (imagine a Brock Lesnar with solid striking - now that's possibly the perfect heavyweight). Punk needs to get used to getting hit. There were rumours that no one was allowed to hit Brock in sparring. That simply can't happen. Punk needs to go all out. He says he will, so hopefully this is part of it. Punk has also reportedly dabbled in Muay Thai, and Kenpo (sometimes written Kempo). However, Kenpo is a very fluid discipline that often varies greatly by region and teacher, and is more of a self-defence discipline. The groundwork to build on is there however.
