5 Maddest One Round Wars In UFC History
3. Stipe Miocic Vs. Alistair Overeem
The UFC's clash of the titans, the baddest man on the planet, and active duty fireman, vs. the most decorated heavyweight kickboxer in MMA.
Miocic was lulled into a heavy straight left that immediately dropped him to the canvas before Overeem snatched up his neck in a guillotine choke. Miocic was able to escape and get back to a standing position, albeit on shaky legs from the heavy shot he had just endured.
Miocic then took dominant position in the pocket before trapping Overeem in a corner and teeing off vicious combinations of head and body strikes.
Miocic eventually secured a single leg take-down before landing thunderous ground and pound hammer fists to the skull of Overeem, shutting his lights off and dribbling his head like a basketball atop the canvas.
Celebrations ensued with the Cleveland, Ohio crowd popping loudly for their hometown hero, until the concussed Overeem stated that he had felt a tap during the submission attempt, which led to several instant replays and heated discussions. After announcer Joe Rogan failed to see said tap, Overeem thanked the booing crowd and walked away with a confused look upon his face.
