Anyone who has ever said Brock Lesnar couldn't take a punch or overcome adversity inside the Octagon clearly hasn't seen his UFC 116 fight with Shane Carwin.

Heading into the fight, Carwin was sporting a perfect 12-0 record and had earned a reputation as one of the most dominant knockout artists the heavyweight division had ever seen. Conversely, Lesnar hadn't fought in almost a year and had just finished battling diverticulitis.

In the opening round, Carwin gave Lesnar the type of beating that can take years off of a man's career. In truth, there were various points in the round where the referee would have been justified in stopping the fight. However, Lesnar survived some vicious ground and pound and managed to secure a triangle choke in the second round defending his heavyweight title in the process.

The comeback victory at UFC 116 showed that Lesnar did indeed have the heart of a champion.
