Nowadays, Michael Cole is a respected member of WWE by virtually everyone backstage. Making his start with the company in 1997, Cole was used at first as little more than a backstage interview character. Playing the role of a straight anchor who was desperately trying to get comments from the various wrestlers backstage, Cole often had to put up with a lot of abuse from those he interviewed. One thing is for sure, the man never experienced anything more unique than what Owen Hart had in mind for him. Greeting The Hart Foundation backstage before filming, Michael was set to interview the leader of the faction, Bret Hart. Before the WWF cameras started rolling, Owen decided to dump a bottle of Coca Cola down the back of Cole's trousers, completely soaking them. Without the time to change, the announcer had to perform the segment in discomfort. It's something he can laugh about now, telling WWE's official website a few years ago that it's his fondest backstage memory of Owen Hart. At the time, it was embarrassing, and the guy found it hard to be professional with freezing soft drink dripping into his boxer shorts. Hilariously, Owen henceforth referred to the future commentator as 'Michael Cola', disabling him from forgetting about the prank. Thankfully for Cole, the nickname never caught on with others.
