5 Most Insane Things Happening In Wrestling Right Now (May 24)

1. The RIDICULOUS In-Ring Standard Of NJPW Best Of The Super Juniors 25

And now to end on a happier note. Thank Gedo for New Japan Pro Wrestling, and specifically the insane mentalists of the junior heavyweight division, who are in the process of bettering even last year's immense Best Of The Super Juniors efforts.

On night one, Will Ospreay unlocked a hidden level of Korakuen Hall with his jaw-dropping parkour-inspired agility, incorporating it seamlessly into the fictional fabric. This was video game wrestling, all right, and that is no insult. Not to be outdone in the innovation department, opponent Taiji Ishimori wowed spectators with an impossible sliding snap German suplex in what was a fantastic effort restrained enough to save something for the future. And some people still claim Will Ospreay is no storyteller. Dragon Lee Vs. SHO was another barnstormer, one that added another layer to the division's storytelling diversity by consciously wrestling an almost ugly match to really put over the struggle of combat - another rejoinder to the tired "gymnastics" takes offered by those who clearly aren't watching.

A special insane mention must go to one El Desperado for his almost ridiculous approach to this diversity, specifically his attempt to weaken Ryusuke Taguchi's strongest strategic weapon: his a*se. Or, more specifically, his a*sehole. With a sort of mini crowbar.

Flip Gordon has thus far lived up to his name in spectacular show-off fashion, while that man Desperado again brought the hate in a heated, brutal, different match with resident division psychopath Hiromu Takahashi.

We're not even at the critical, more critically-acclaimed endgame of the tourney, and it's even better than we expected.
