3. Death Is In The Air

WWE's mission statement, as reiterated on its actual Corporate sub-site, is "putting smiles on people's faces". Across RAW in recent weeks, WWE has sought to achieve this by using cancer to put over Dean Ambrose - and, this Monday, by using death to put over the Riott Squad.

As Natalya locked Sarah Logan in the Sharpshooter, Ruby Riott paraded around ringside with what was, apparently, a pair of the deceased Jim Neidhart's sunglasses. You can all too easily imagine some vermin of a creative staffer clutching them wherever he (it's always a he) goes, just waiting for the most sensitive time to pitch his big idea.

Not yet, actually. She's still really, really distraught over the passing of her father. Maybe next week!

Natalya, in tears, removed herself from the ring, where she was consoled by Bayley and Sasha Banks. A wrestling fandom divided on such cheap strategy tends to gauge it by determining whether or not the angle is effective. Whatever works, eh? This is pro wrestling. Well, as Natalya crumpled in grief, the Manchester crowd very loudly counted her out. This was morbidly hilarious.

Stop crying about your dead dad and get on with the match, you loser! is what they more or less bloody said.

Given that WWE will now simply wait to capitalise on any controversy, expect, at WWE Greatest Royal Rumble 2, a babyface to appear in a talking head with a vat of acid.

Consider your chances of beating me...dissolved!
