5 Most Insane Things Happening In Wrestling Right Now (Sept 21)

4. Screwdriver Sunday

Continuing the Hell In A Cell theme, WWE toyed with the PG confines beyond, for once, scripting its performers to say the word "bitch"; instead, Randy Orton mutilated Jeff Hardy's earlobe with a screwdriver.

This was as gross as anything Jimmy Havoc's ever done to himself inside of a wrestling ring, and the grossest thing Randy Orton has done since he terrified a Creative Writer with his smegma. It's insane enough that Orton entered one of his greatest ever performances in 2018, one year removed from 2017, in which he wrestled two of the dirt-worst stipulation matches of all time. Here, he restored the gruesome magic of the Cell match when the motherf*cker was painted bright red. In an instantly iconic moment, he drove a screwdriver through Jeff Hardy's ear and turned it into Fusilli pasta.

Usually, WWE makes us sick on pay-per-view by forgetting that the last 30 years have happened and ordering boring heels to apply chinlocks for minutes on end. This was a nice change. It took some bloody doing, but this wasn't actually the most disgusting thing on the show.

Why did Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman sell a spear for six minutes?!
