5 Most Star-Studded WWE Royal Rumbles Ever
4. 1997
By the mid-90s, WCW and Eric Bischoff were fast becoming a very real threat to WWE's position at the top of the wrestling tree, and stars of the industry were more or less evenly split between the two companies. Despite this, the year's Rumble match boasted one of the more stacked line-ups in the event's history.
Steve Austin, the eventual winner, entered at #5, but his rivals to the crown included the likes of Razor Ramon, The British Bulldog, Owen Hart, Bret Hart, Diesel, Mankind, Vader and finally Undertaker (not to mention a smattering of upstarts like Triple H and The Rock). What's surprising is that, so close to the outbreak of the Attitude Era, a lot of these wrestlers would have little to no part to play in the years ahead, many of them instead jumping ship to WCW later on in the year.
