5 Most Star-Studded WWE Royal Rumbles Ever
3. 2002
Although the Invasion angle was considered a disappointment because of WWE's failure to land many of the major WCW stars in time, the 2002 Rumble was the first since Ted Turner and co shut up shop - and the roster Vince McMahon had assembled from its remnants was brimming with star power.
This time around, they took the unusual step of saving virtually all of the big hitters until the tail-end of the match, Undertaker - who was eliminated by Maven in one of the Rumble's all-time upsets - being the only former world champion to enter until Steve Austin came in at #19.
The floodgates quickly opened, though, as Triple H, Kurt Angle, Big Show, Kane and Booker T joined them (as well as Rob Van Dam, who was arguably the most over wrestler in the industry at the time, mid-carder or not). Returning from months out injured, it was HHH who picked up the win - but there were at least five or six who could have got the nod instead.
