5 Positives & 5 Negatives Ahead Of Brock Lesnar Vs. Goldberg

9. Negative - It Was Pretty Awful The First Time

Not only have we already seen Lesnar and Goldberg mix it up once before—it also happened to be one of the most disappointing performances in WrestleMania history. And I feel like I’m not even exaggerating there.

That WrestleMania XX match was an absolute snooze fest, with the Madison Square Garden crowd soon turning on the competitors when it became abundantly clear that neither of them really cared about being there. Really the only highlight was Stone Cold Steve Austin, acting as special guest referee, and his post-match Stunner on a belligerent Lesnar. Obviously that’s a luxury they can’t rely upon this time.

Again, there’s a saving grace in the fact that this time around the circumstances are different. Sure, neither man is a full-time performer, but Goldberg is essentially doing this for his family and so presumably he'll be far more motivated than before. You could also argue that Lesnar has something to prove, especially after this summer’s USADA controversy that pretty much lays waste to any lingering UFC dreams.

Long story short: their performances from that first match don’t bode well for Survivor Series, but hope is the thing with feathers. Fingers crossed that this time both men will be more focused on the task at hand.
