The 22 August edition of AEW Dynamite was full of shocks, surprises and great matches as we have come to expect from the show. Key events from this taping included Ivelisse and Diamante defeating the Nightmare Sisters to win the Women’s Tag Team Cup, FTR vs. Private Party, and the biggest match of them all, Cody vs. Mr. Brodie Lee for the TNT Championship.

Previous contenders for the belt such as Sonny Kiss and Marq Quen have been odd choices as contenders, with nobody really expecting them to pick up the win. However, recent contenders such as Eddie Kingston and Scorpio Sky have seen the competition step up a notch, leading to this decimation. Mr. Brodie Lee tore Cody to shreds in what was essentially a one-way traffic squash match. This steamroller performance hints not only at a feud between the Dark Order and The Nightmare Family, but also indicates this could be a long, dominant reign for Mr. Brodie Lee.

With rumours circling that Cody will be taking some time away from TV, it seems that a simple hot potato switch back to Cody isn’t lined up for the TNT Championship anytime soon. Instead, here are the five most likely people who could eventually dethrone Mr. Brodie Lee to become the next TNT Champion.

5. Dustin Rhodes

Following his victory over Cody, Mr. Brodie Lee orchestrated a Dark Order led beatdown on the Nightmare Family at ringside. QT Marshall, Dustin Rhodes, Arn Anderson, Cody and Brandi Rhodes were all beaten down by the Dark is Order one after the other following Mr. Brodie Lee’s victory, showing that this surely just the beginning of a long standing rivalry between the Dark Order and the Nightmare Family.

Now 51-years-old, Dustin Rhodes is more than likely heading towards the twilight stages of his career as retirement looms. With the clock ticking on his career more apparently than ever, perhaps one last title run could be awarded to Rhodes to congratulate him on a long and incredible career, before he moves into a position behind the scenes.

With the feud between the two main factions already set in place, it would be easy to put Mr. Brodie Lee vs. Dustin Rhodes at the centre of the rivalry (especially considering Cody’s rumoured absence), with Dustin eventually defeating Mr. Brodie Lee, even if it only results in a short reign.
