5 Real WWE Storyline Pitches That Were Rejected

1. Dean Ambrose & AJ Lee's Psychopathic Romance

Revealing herself to be Raw's new General Manager and leaving Daniel Bryan at the alter, the madcap antics of AJ Lee really appealed to Vince McMahon in the Summer of 2012. Kevin Eck had an alternative story in mind that would have resulted in Bryan successfully having his new bride committed to a mental institution after the wedding.

There, AJ would meet Dean Ambrose (Eck admits he was determined to get the developmental standout onto the main roster during his stint in creative) and the pair would fall madly in love. Bonding through their psychopathic tendencies, the lovers would cause untold havoc on WWE upon Lee's return to television.

This was 'Plan B' for Ambrose, because 'Plan A' - a feud opposite Mick Foley - had fallen through. McMahon had something else in mind for AJ Lee though, and that turned out to be her three-month run as General Manager of WWE's flagship show.

Ambrose would later come up as part of The Shield, but Eck could also see value in developing his 'Lunatic Fringe' characteristics and using AJ Lee's established position on the main roster to instantly give Dean purpose.
