5 Reasons Why Australian Pro Wrestling Is Practically Unheard Of
3. Too Many Cooks....
Do you see that picture right there? That is how many wrestling federations we have in this country? And that is not even all of them, I had to leave some out due to spacing issues (I believe there are two female feds as well). Do you know how many markets we have in this country at this present time? One, Melbourne (the mecca of Australia wrestling). Now you tell me, what kind of madness is that? Apart from the capital of Victoria (education is a good thing) there is nowhere to my knowledge that will draw any more than about 250 people MAX, and you'd be lucky to get that. All of these feds do manage to somehow scrape by but I ask you, why? If you got all of these wrestling federations centralized into one great big entity, promoted a weekly live king of the ring style event and eventual unification of all the World championships to determine one champion for one company, hold it in Melbourne and have it all showcased on the internet no less, would for lack of a better word, do wonders. We don't need an AWF champion, a Wrestlerock Champion, a UWA Champion and an IWA Champion when no one in the mainstream public knows who either one is. And I mean no disrespect at all, I in fact think every single champion are great and worthy. But come on now. Although after experiencing some of the backstage attitudes with my own eyes, leads me to my next point as to why this isn't as easy as it sounds....
Passions in life: Movies, Music and Wrestling....My childhood was spent growing up in the "Outback" of Australia (I'm a little bit country) and my adulthood resided within the city limits (I'm a little bit rock and roll), so you could say that I am the best (or worst) of both worlds. A 6 foot 7 ex wannabe pro wrestler (whose career was cut short due to a busted back, NOT caused by wrestling) & muso who has a precocious cat & a habit of doing the wrong thing but for the right reasons. The story of my life????
