5 Reasons Cody Rhodes Will Succeed In WWE (And 5 Reasons He Won't)

9. Won’t - The Level Of Belief

Cody Rhodes
WWE

One of the most promising parts of Cody’s return was the sheer spectacle of the thing. He was given the superstar treatment, rising from the floor and milking the crowd response for all it was worth. He then took a hard-fought win over a major WWE talent. The message: this guy’s the real deal.

Will this last, though? It’s hard to say. While WWE have fleetingly thrown their support behind Rhodes in the past, there’s never been anything to indicate they believe he’s more than a midcard guy. For every win over DX or Rey Mysterio, he’s been jobbed to Big Show or turned into a comedy act.

Of course, he’s changed a lot since his 2016 departure, but will that necessarily work in his favour? WWE has a history of being none too keen on wrestlers taking the initiative to get themselves over. They have a plan and a way of doing things, and colouring outside the lines doesn’t always go too well.

While the wider wrestling world sees Cody Rhodes as a major talent, even if they hate him, it’s not impossible to see WWE pulling the Stardust costume out of the closet once again.
