3. Jinder Shouldn't Be Hindered Because Of Randy Orton's Mediocrity

Let's not beat around the bush - Jinder Mahal's WWE Championship reign has been extraordinarily boring. Hardbody Mahal's matches have continued to be dull affairs, not helped in the slightest by repetitive promos and the continuous involvement of the Singh Brothers. It hasn't been a distinguished championship reign, to say the least.

Mahal must obviously shoulder a portion of this blame, but he hasn't been helped at all by being lumbered with 2017 Randy Orton. The Viper is having one of the most insipid years of any major wrestling superstar in memory, a succession of wearisome contests and pedestrian character work. If WWE wanted Mahal's title reign to get off to a hot start, Randy Orton was the wrong opponent.

When Jinder ascended to the main event, he was immensely inexperienced in the role. He needed to work with a major star who would work hard to get him over. Instead, Jinder got a prosaic Orton. Jinder Mahal deserves a chance to show what he can do as champion when he isn't faced with such a humdrum opponent.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
