5 Reasons Not To Believe In CM Punk's Cleveland Curse

2. He Left A Job He Hated

The most notable thing that happened to Punk in Cleveland - prior to Saturday - was quitting WWE. The evening after the 2014 Royal Rumble, a beat-up, tired CM Punk met with Triple H and Vince McMahon backstage prior to Raw. Unhappy with his job in general, Punk simply told his bosses that he was going home, then did just that.

Whether wrestling fans like it or not, walking out of the Quicken Loans Arena was a victory for Punk, not a defeat. Even though Punk himself said that he considered his wrestling career a failure because he never headlined WrestleMania, that couldn't be further from the truth - Punk was an unbridled success in WWE, a total package of entertainment that rivaled anyone in history.

Punk gave it his all, and when he decided the job just wasn't worth the pain and heartache anymore, he knew it was time to leave. How many people have either quit a job they hated, or would have quit one if they were financially able? Just about everybody, including the people who have excoriated Punk since his WWE departure.

Punk simply moved on, and for that, he should be congratulated.
