5 Reasons Shinsuke Nakamura Shouldn't Become WWE Champ At SummerSlam 2017

5. Casual Fans Haven't Really Connected With Him

Watch the ending to Nakamura's match with John Cena on the latest SmackDown and pay attention to the fan response immediately after Cena departs. As disheartening as it is to admit, the audience definitely quietened when Cena left the ring for Nakamura to bask in his big win. That's worrying.

Sure, hardcore fans who gobble down everything in the wrestling world know how good Shinsuke Nakamura is, but how many truly great matches has the guy had on WWE's main roster so far? Not only that, but the writers have done a remarkably shoddy job of explaining why Nakamura is in the company. This isn't rocket science: we need to hear from the man himself what his goals are.

To casual fans who don't pay attention to anything outside of WWE, Nakamura is just an over-hyped sensation who hasn't set the world alight on SmackDown since being promoted from NXT. That hides the truth about Shinsuke's real talent, and yet nobody can be blamed for thinking it.

Breezango have had more character development than Nakamura. Figure that one out.
