4. Swagger And Colter Are Completely Believable In Their Roles
WWE.comFor the past 14 months, Zeb Colter and Jack Swagger have portrayed "Real Americans," two uber-patriots who as heels were a "Tea Party"-style anti-immigration tandem. They defended America in an over-the-top manner that included defeating a myriad of foriegn-based babyfaces. When the duo became a trio with the inclusion of Cesaro, the heat increased as the already loutish duo were now liars against their own credos, Cesaro being a Swiss-born international, At no point has Jack Swagger or Zeb Colter ever not been overly-defined in their roles. In fact, until turning babyface, they could easily have been the longest consistently heel act in the company, With Stephanie McMahon, Triple H, Kane and the Authority running a close second as they close in on one year as a unit. The longevity of Colter and Swagger in their roles creates a certain comfort in their performance that evolves them from being mere characters to being truly humanized. Thus, when they answer the call of Rusev and change nothing, given that the people fully understand their motives, the necessity for a fully explained reason for a heel turn is absolutely unnecessary.
