5 Reasons The Undertaker's WWE Retirement Will Stick (& 5 Reasons It Won't)
8. WILL: He's Not Healthy Enough To Keep Going
As the saying goes, Father Time doesn't do jobs.
While Taker has continued to be an effective wrestler well past his prime, the 55-year-old phenom is in no shape to take bumps anymore. We saw a nearly tragic performance from him last June at Super ShowDown, and the high-profile tag match featuring him and Kane versus DX the year prior at Crown Jewel wasn't much better. While the gimmick of the Undertaker is immortal, the man beneath the mortician's robes is not.
Fans don't want to see Calaway wrestle himself into a wheelchair, and the big Texan has too much pride to put on weak matches anymore. In the past decade, he's dealt with shoulder injuries, torn muscles, hip problems, and a traumatic concussion served at the hands of Brock Lesnar. With his body at the limit of its capabilities, the next injury could be ruinous for Taker's life after wrestling. For the quality of work we're getting, it doesn't feel worth it.
