5 Reasons The Undertaker's WWE Retirement Will Stick (& 5 Reasons It Won't)
4. WILL: He's Got Nothing Left To Defend
The streak has been over for a half-decade. Undertaker hasn't held WWE gold since 2009. He's already battled Bray Wyatt for creepiest dude on the roster. He's proved his dominance over brother Kane time and time again. He even went to blows with Roman Reigns over yard jurisdiction. All the Deadman has left to defend is the Tuwaiq Trophy, and who knows if that's even canon anymore.
Not every feud needs a MacGuffin like a title belt or the supernatural power of a 21-win WrestleMania record, but bragging rights ain't enough for someone as legendary as the Deadman. He's not around day to day to bristle with other egos in the locker room. If you want to square up with Taker, you better have a damn good reason to call on him from the Beyond. And frankly, there's none of those left.
Another match at this point would feel hollow. 'Taker is a spectacle, and so his rivalries need to be as well. AJ Styles was able to turn a run-of-the-mill tilly into a cinematic masterpiece, and that mark is impossible to beat now that Taker is left without a prize to chase.
