5 Reasons The Undertaker's WWE Retirement Will Stick (& 5 Reasons It Won't)
5. WON'T: He's Still A Big-Money Draw
In the past three years, WWE have resorted to an Undertaker appearance to pop ratings and buy rates. Remember his baffling appearance in the third hour of RAW's 25th-anniversary show?
You can be cynical about this strategy, but it works, and people are willing to throw down cash if it means they're able to see the Phenom appear. Especially if they think it's the last time ever, something WWE is decreasingly shy about advertising. As long as the man in the long black coat fills the coffers for advertisers, he's going to keep showing up.
Then there's the relationship with Saudi Arabia. Undertaker has been booked for all five WWE shows in Saudi Arabia (though he ultimately did not appear at Crown Jewel 2019), and he's obviously a favorite of crown prince Mohammed bin Salman, an old-school wrestling fan who only cares to see his bygone favorites. With the insane amount of cash thrown at those Middle Eastern spectacles, WWE could lure Taker out of this retirement just like they did with Shawn Michaels.
