Hardy's last WWE pay-per-view appearance came at SummerSlam 2009 in a losing effort to CM Punk in a TLC match for the World Heavyweight title. One look at the rest of the matches on the card shows a very different roster to the one we find today.

Rey Mysterio was the Intercontinental Champion, MVP, Cryme Tyme and Kozlov were still on the roster. In fact, of the eight matches on the main show you'd only expect six of the 20 competitors to feature anywhere on a WWE special event today.

What this means is that the roster is full of a fresh opponents for Jeff Hardy. On the heel side of the roster, the list is seemingly endless. Rusev, Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins, Stardust, Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and many more, it is easy to imagine Hardy going up against these guys with impressive results.

Hardy has also traditionally been excellent in face vs. face matches, and again the roster is loaded with fresh talent. Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, Neville, Ryback, Cesaro and others have appeared on the roster since Hardy left in 2009.

The feuds that put Hardy on the map as a singles star were the ones against Umaga, Edge and CM Punk, none of whom are with the company any more. The landscape could not be fresher for Jeff Hardy.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
