5 Reasons WWE Should Hire CM Punk (... & 5 Reasons They Shouldn't!)
9. Shouldn't - WWE Is Doing Well Without Him
Having said all that, WWE aren't exactly struggling in the ratings department these days.
After years of abysmally poor ratings - where it got to the point the company's inability to draw actually came up on camera as a plot point - WWE finally started gaining traction last year. Ratings saw a strong bump in 2022, and have been going strong in 2023.
WWE is currently blessed with a mixture of great talent and excellent writing. On the talent side of the equation, there's the Judgment Day - a group containing the company's biggest heel, biggest female star and a Money in the Bank holder, all held together by the indomitable workhorse that is Finn Balor. Storyline wise, the Bloodline saga is the best story in modern wrestling.
Both phenomenons have been awarded with ratings bumps. NXT has been doing its best-ever ratings since Judgment Day began gracing the show with their presence, and the Trial of Roman Reigns saw Smackdown top 3 million viewers.
WWE is on a roll right now, and the powers that be may not want to upset the apple cart by bringing in someone as divisive as CM Punk, no matter how many extra eyeballs he draws to the product.
