5 Reasons You Should Be Watching NWA Powerrr
4. Magic Mic
The promo.
The wrestling interview was given this name in a nod to its purpose: to promote. To promote the wrestler, the opponent, the match-up and indeed the promotion itself.
In an era of wrestlers breaking kayfabe to discuss Dave Meltzer’s nonsensical 7 out of 5 star ratings, in a time where some assume all fans are amnesiacs and thus use their mic time to recap last week, in an age of painfully scripted monologues delivered worse than something out of The Room, NWA Powerrr’s throwback style stands out greatly.
Wrestlers are given the breathing room to create and form their personas and modes of delivery. Look no further than current NWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis. On the premiere episode of Powerrr, Aldis cut a promo early in the show to hype up his main event title defence against Tim Storm. Hyping up himself, his challenger, his promotion and the industry of wrestling as a whole, Aldis successfully fired up the crowd for an hour of professional wrestling.
This serious, no nonsense approach to character and promo work provides a high intensity, competitive sport vibe to the show and the matches booked.
