5 Recent Major Injuries That Prove WWE Should Protect Their Stars Better

3. Dolph Ziggler's Concussions

WWE.comWWE.comOne of the sadder issues for fans of WWE to consider in recent memory is that Dolph Ziggler - one of their perpetual fan favorites - may never again approach the WWE World Heavyweight Championship reign that he so justly deserves. In recent weeks, dirtsheet reports state that Ziggler's two concussions within a seven month period (May 2013 and January 2014) are what are to blame for his lack of push past a certain level on the card. Insofar as protecting stars better, this is a situation that shows that WWE is absolutely taking the right steps to do just that. In not kowtowing to pressure from their vociferous fanbase, WWE is protecting a great wrestler who, if pushed as champion, concussed yet again, stripped of the title and made inactive could lead to far more fan angst than if he remains a midcarder. In wrestling a safer style and not being exposed to the extremely high-impact style of WWE's main event scene, Ziggler is still a (though not ideally slotted where most fans would want him) contributing performer.
