5 Subtle Signs The Undertaker Has Quietly Retired

1. The Words Of The Man Himself

Okay, so not so much the words of the man himself, more the rumoured words of the man himself. The annual grind of getting back into shape and returning to WWE for one more WrestleMania must be grinding for anyone, let alone a 50+ year old man who has destroyed his body for the entertainment of audiences for over two decades.

Immediately following WrestleMania 32, the Wrestling Observer was reporting that Undertaker had told people backstage that his battle against McMahon Jr. was his final match, hence the gloves gesture. The match taking place in his home state meant that a large number of friends and family (even Kane!) were in attendance, adding more fuel to the fire of this being his send off.

Of course, such news comes out every year, yet by the time the Royal Rumble comes around many begin speculating on Taker's Mania opponent. Many point to the fact that Taker's retirement wouldn't go without major fanfare, that Vince McMahon wouldn't let that happen from a purely business standpoint.

What this ignores is the fact that by professional wrestling standards, Undertaker is a pretty low-key guy. He's also the most respected man in the business, and has possibly earned the right to go out on his own terms. One final victory at WrestleMania against a member of the McMahon family may just have been his final hurrah.
