4. Cody Rhodes
Cody Rhodes situation parallels that of the Intercontinental Champion Christian. Rhodes seems to constantly be on the cusp of breaking into superstardom - a high profile feud with The Big Show earlier in the year could have catapulted Cody into the big leagues, but WWE instead opted to give Big Show a dominant upper-hand that did no favors for either man in the long run. Cody quickly bounced back, thanks in part to his strong work ethic and ability on the microphone. Rhodes developing rivalry could (and for all intents and purposes, should) be the stepping stone that leads him into the main event. With some prime real estate open in the World Championship division, Cody Rhodes is prime contender to take the ball and run with it.
How to do it: The most important thing is to make Codys budding rivalry with Christian mean something. Even if it means him coming out on the losing end in the long run (what purpose would it serve to stick him with the title again?), Cody can come out of the Christian story looking poised and ready for bigger and better things. This is all contingent upon WWEs willingness to give these two some time to develop the angle and give us at least a couple of matches worth getting excited about.
