5 Things We HATE About WWE NXT 2.0 So Far
2. AWFUL Scripted Promos
On the debut episode of NXT 2.0, fans were introduced to Tony
D'Angelo, a wrestler playing into the Italian American stereotype that has been
established in gangster films such as The Godfather. While the representation
here is problematic to begin with, the dialogue that he is having to spew out
is ridiculous.
Sadly, D'Angelo isn't the only performer who is suffering from bad NXT creative. Toxic Attraction have been given absolutely horrible dialogue to read in their debut and then there is Joe Gacy.
A former CZW World Champion, Gacy has been given the gimmick of... being woke? Simply spitting out words like "trigger" or "cancelled" as a way of.. .triggering people? Essentially, he is a jab at leftist culture, but if this is going to be done at least do it with some sort of subtlety. All he is doing is saying horribly scripted words that a writer probably googled hours before the show.
Lame writing has majorly damaged some of the new stars in NXT 2.0 and it doesn't look like it will stop there.
