5 Times A Feud With Kane Was The Kiss Of Death For WWE Champions

5. Daniel Bryan

At WrestleMania XXX, the lengthy storyline surrounding the trials and tribulations of one Daniel Bryan finally came to a head. After years of painting the man as almost an outsider in the promotion, WWE bigwigs finally pulled the trigger on his career, making him WWE World Heavyweight Champion. It was quite the night for Bryan, defeating Triple H in an epic opener, before going on to outlast both Randy Orton and Batista in a Triple Threat main event. From there, it seemed impossible that WWE could screw up the man's subsequent rivalry, but unfortunately, Bryan's actual winning of the biggest title in the industry was the high point of his short run with the gold, not any future matches. Fans were salivating at the prospect of seeing him defend against all and sundry in main events, but the only real Pay-Per-View the guy was to have on top during this run was against Kane. Meeting at Extreme Rules 2014 in the hardcore-style match that bears the event's name, both Bryan and Kane did produce a decent bout, but fans had expected more of WWE after Bryan's fantastic capture of the belt at 'Mania. Sadly, Kane wasn't the ideal opponent, even though the pair had previously teamed with one another as 'Team Hell No', and fans responded in kind by being way more interested in the 6-man tag encounter pitting The Shield against a reformed Evolution.
