1. The Nexus
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmsTPiPpLSk A lot of people described the Nexus angle as a poorer rework of the nWo. What the Nexus had that the nWo didnt have was a group of relative unknowns, as opposed to the household names of Hogan, Nash and Hall. The Nexus arrived in WWE, not only assaulting the WWE superstars, but tearing apart the fixtures around the ring and attacking the officials. What better way to introduce a group and instantly get them over as heels. Not only that, but it was an exciting idea. The group went on to attack Bret Hart, Ricky Steamboat and even Vince McMahon. There was a sense of panic in WWE as this dominant group took over. For me, the first error in the booking of the Nexus storyline was giving the group WWE contracts. I thought the idea of the group being outsiders was the key factor in keeping this storyline an exciting one. The group lost a huge amount of momentum when they were defeated by Team WWE at Summerslam and they failed to remain dominant. Ultimately, the group lost its leader in Wade Barrett and CM Punk took over. By this point, the Nexus angle was lacking in its initial excitement. I like the idea of CM Punk as the leader of a faction and his Straight Edge Society were brilliant. In this case, it just didnt work. Through their loss of momentum, lacking thrill and various changes in personnel, The New Nexus were but a shadow of the original group. Its pretty clear that WWE has a habit of dropping the ball on storylines, as well as wrestlers too. Ive put together a list of just a few from recent memory. If youve got an opinion on something that you feel WWE have dropped the ball on, whether from recent times or in their history, feel free to leave a comment below.
