This fleeting moment in WWE history never blossomed into a fully-fledged Legion of Doom comeback, and it didn’t quite wash away those sour LOD 2000 memories, but it did give a nice nostalgic moment for those who remembered Hawk & Animal in their pomp.

Until they stepped in the ring.

On the May 12th, 2003 episode of Monday Night Raw, General Manager Eric Bischoff hit the ring to interrupt an argument between Kane & Rob Van Dam, WWE’s “odd couple” Tag Team Champions. Bischoff quickly announced that the champs would defend their belts against a team they’d never faced before there and then, and out came LOD to a decent crowd pop.

The ensuing match was little more than a legacy-denting three-minute jobbing, and it was pretty clear that time had passed Hawk & Animal by in the ring. LOD had hoped for a full-time return to materialise form this appearance: remorsefully, the were told “no.”
