That 2003 return should’ve been the last we saw of the Legion of Doom brand in a WWE ring, oh no: Vince McMahon & co. just couldn’t help themselves.

Animal returned to WWE competition in 2005, two years after Hawk’s passing. He found himself teaming with Heidenreich: a man known for attempting to sexually assault Michael Cole on an episode of SmackDown, his love of poetry, and being controlled by a mysterious entity named “Little Johnny.”

Ahem.

Animal joined Heidenreich in his on-going feud with MNM, and Animal soon talked him into painting his face and shaving his hair into a mohawk. Heidenreich was named an official Legion of Doom member that August, and LOD 2005 was born.

This union, like the others, didn’t last long. Following LOD 2005’s largely forgettable reign as Tag Team Champions, New Orleans native Heidenreich asked for some time-off in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

He was released shortly after, while Animal persisted as a listless singles wrestler until his own release in 2007.
