5 Ups & 0 Downs From AEW Rampage (Oct 8)

1. A Star-Making Performance

CM Punk Daniel Garcia
AEW

Take a bow, Daniel Garcia.

If a certain Mr. Khan and his associates watch this week's Rampage and don't push Garcia, then they're not paying attention. The 23 year old has grabbed his chance recently, and he's a much bigger deal than he was when he worked Jon Moxley previously. This opener was a step up in class from that bout.

CM Punk elevated Garcia by letting him take control here and there. Dan definitely came out of this match a bigger star than he was going on, which was surely the mission statement for Punk. Job done then. These guys also work so well together that AEW should really consider coming back for a full-blown series someday.

Garcia can be proud of himself for hanging with a top name like Punk, and CM himself should get a pat on the back for bolstering a young performer's credibility by selling for him. Punk isn't the kind to gobble peers alive anyway, and this was proof of that.

Great match.
