5 Ups & 0 Downs From AEW Rampage (Oct 8)

2. Nice Change Of Pace

CM Punk Daniel Garcia 2.0 Mark Henry
AEW

Mark Henry's short promo interludes have become a weekly highlight on Rampage. There's no point in denying it - ol' 'Sexual Chocolate' himself wasn't a great fit on commentary. Playing the stick man backstage is a much better use of his star power, and Henry himself seems to be relishing it.

This week, he even got to kick off the show.

Henry set the stage nicely for CM Punk and Daniel Garcia's crew to mouth off about their upcoming match. He doesn't dominate these segments or hog the mic, which is a positive, and Mark is quickly showing he has the skills to prompt workers during promos without putting words into their mouths.

This was a cool way to switch things up on Rampage. AEW ran another backstage promo skit for Ricky Starks and Brian Cage later on. Being honest, they're an effective alternative to the tried-and-tested video package stuff wrestling has been doing for decades, and they help Rampage stand out.
