No Way Jose Velveteen Dream Elbow Drop

Last night's episode of NXT kicked off with The Velveteen Dream facing No Way Jose in singles competition, and while fundamentally fine, the layout didn't feel like the most effective way to put the former Patrick Clark over if the plan is to have him progress towards greater competition.

Jose is no jobber, but it doesn't look like he'll ever progress beyond the lower-midcard. Thus, having him go 50/50 with Dream doesn't make a great deal of sense. A more one-sided content would've been more effective in putting Velveteen over, and if Jose wasn't the right man for that particular job, perhaps WWE should have called upon a Fabian Aichner or Raul Mendoza.

This isn't a major complaint, but NXT is WWE's most consistent weekly show, and should be held to a higher standard than Raw and SmackDown.

Though a step or two beneath Dream's recent in-ring offerings, the match itself was solid enough. He'll presumably move towards Tyler Bate now, but after falling in the opener, it's hard to tell where Jose's future lies.
