5 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (Jan 19 - Results & Review)

3. Daddy Magic Is Magic On The Call

This has been said before, but it's worth repeating.

Matt Menard has a future behind the commentary desk once he hangs up his in-ring boots. 'Daddy Magic' was excellent last time he sat in on comms for Rampage, and the former JAS man shone yet again this week. What's more, he complemented both Excalibur and Ian Riccaboni really, really well.

That's an important point - three person announce booths rely on each individual bringing something different to the party and (crucially) knowing their role. Excalibur was the main play-by-play, Riccaboni the chief analyst, and Menard added colourful comments aplenty with a sprinkle of in-ring nous.

Another observation: Menard has a pleasing voice to listen to for the entire duration of a broadcast. He's loud and brash, sure, but knows when to reel that side of his personality in and keep quiet so others get to talk. In short, the dude's a natural.
