Don't know the difference between a wrist lock and a wrist watch? No problem, because HBO's producers made sure to have even the most casual of wrestling fans covered.

The whole documentary has an introductory feel; if someone watching knew absolutely nothing about André's life or career, they'd come away being able to ring off a few remarkable stories or facts about the man without then having to tread through the WWE Network to become industry experts. That's the way it should be.

For an example of this, consider how HBO allow Hulk Hogan to give insight into how André would subtlety sell for opponents by dropping down to one knee. Afterwards, the cameras switch to Jerry Lawler, who handily tells viewers that this is what insiders call selling.

This hand-holding does a masterful job of laying out the basics without making more hardcore wrestling enthusiasts feel like they're having their intelligence insulted. In order to tell André's story to as many people as possible, this was a concession HBO had to make.
